Banker of the day: The shortest list is still a bet

The banker of the day is the shortest list 2oddspredict publishes. It is one selection, or a very small set, chosen as the note to read first. The word banker is the name of the list. It is not a statement that the result is known, and it is not insurance.

The bet is whatever market is printed on the row. If the row is a home win, the host has to win. If the row is a goals line, the goals have to land. The title of the page does not change the way the bookmaker settles the selection.

Short lists feel more certain because there is less to look at. That feeling is not evidence. A single match is still one match. Favourites lose, goal lines miss, and postponed games are void or moved according to the bookmaker's rule, not according to the list.

Read the match page and the team news as you would for any other row. A banker written in the morning can be a bad fit by the afternoon if the expected side is rotated. The list does not update itself because the name sounds firm.

Do not stake more because the page is called a banker. If anything, a bet you cannot afford to lose does not belong on a shorter list either. Use the same fixed unit you use on any other single.

Do not fold the banker into a long accumulator to grow the price. You would be adding legs that the list did not include, and the ticket would lose if any added leg lost. The list is a single note.

Grade it after the match like every other tip. A loss is a loss. Over a season the useful question is whether the prices you took were better than the chances you gave, not whether the name on the menu sounded confident.

The day's list for this market is on the tips page.
